President Gordon Boerner rang the bell to begin our February luncheon at the Westgate Hotel, welcoming members and guests for an inspiring and informative program.
After the Pledge of Allegiance, we introduced our featured speaker, Diane Doherty, Executive Director of Your Safe Place – the San Diego Family Justice Center.
Diane shared her remarkable journey as a longtime advocate for survivors of domestic and family violence. With more than 30 years of legal experience, including her work with the San Diego City Attorney’s Office and the Domestic Violence and Sex Crimes Unit, Diane has dedicated her career to protecting and empowering vulnerable individuals and families.
She spoke about her role in helping launch San Diego’s Family Justice Center and her transition into leading Your Safe Place, where she continues to expand access to critical services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, and human trafficking. Her presentation highlighted the importance of collaboration, accessibility, and community awareness in creating pathways to safety, healing, and justice.
Members were deeply engaged, gaining valuable insight into the challenges facing survivors and the impactful work being done right here in our community.
Membership updates were shared, along with upcoming events and opportunities to get involved.
During Bill’s Bucks, members gave generously in recognition of:
- Gratitude for Diane’s powerful and meaningful presentation
- Appreciation for the work being done to support survivors in our community
- Celebration of the Club’s continued impact and service
As always, the meeting was filled with connection, purpose, and a shared commitment to making a difference.
