Program: Burnham Center for Community Advancement

Burnham Center for Community Advancement

Join us on January 16, 2024, to learn how the Burnham Center for Community Advancement helps make the San Diego binational region a better place to live, work, and play for all. BCCA serves as a nexus point where community stakeholders come together to identify regional needs, find innovative solutions, and tackle some of the region’s most pressing issues. The Center is working on these issues: President and CEO, Tad Seth Parzen will speak to us about:

  • Balboa Park - released a report “Preparing for Balboa Park’s Next 100 Years.”
  • The World Design Capital - a global competition, where San Diego and Tijuana were the first binational urban region to obtain World Design status.
  • Opportunity and Prosperity - helping organize and inspire employers and training institutions to focus on high-growth, high-wage industries in San Diego and create incubators to support entrepreneurs and innovators.
  • Housing Affordability – bringing together housing advocates, developers, and city planners with those impacted by this crisis to ensure every San Diego can actually live in San Diego.
  • Envisioning Our Future – asking the question, what does it look like for our residents, industries, nonprofit sector, and government in ten or twenty years? How do we build the best San Diego region going forward?
  • Rebuilding Community - seeking to organize a local coalition of those committed to rebuilding a sense of community that can heal and take our region forward, together.

Speaker: Tad Seth Parzen, President and CEO

Joining us to tell BCCA’s story will be President and CEO Tad Seth Parzen, who co-founded the Center with civic leader Malin Burnham in 2021.
