Director, Parks and Recreation Department,

City of San Diego

Andy Field is the Director of the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of San Diego. Raised in the Chicago area, Andy attended college at the University of Wyoming and received his master’s degree from San Diego State University. A Parks and Recreation professional since 2002, Andy manages over 42,000 acres of urban parkland, including Balboa Park, Beaches and Shoreline Parks, Chollas Lake, Mission Bay Park, Mission Trails Regional Park, Otay Valley Regional Park, and Torrey Pines Golf Course, where the PGA Tour stops every year for the Farmers Insurance Open. With the adoption of a new Parks Master Plan in 2021, Andy is working to address known inequities in park services, maintenance, construction, and recreational programming.
