Join us as Mayor Faulconer honors our
San Diego Kiwanis Club and its Centennial Celebration
On Tuesday, June 2, 2020, San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer will headline the Kiwanis Club of San Diego’s Centennial Celebration. Founded in 1920, the Kiwanis Club and its foundation have been a pillar of support for the San Diego and Baja California community for 100 years. We are honored to have Mayor Faulconer join us to celebrate this important anniversary of our founding.
Mayor Faulconer became San Diego’s 26th mayor upon taking office on March 3, 2014. His agenda is based on bringing San Diego together and restoring integrity to City Hall under his platform of "One San Diego.” This platform seeks an inclusive city government that creates opportunities and improves the lives of all residents in all neighborhoods. His administration has been focused on reforming government into a responsive and results-driven organization that efficiently and effectively serves the public.
During his term, Mayor Faulconer has bolstered public safety, expanded services like parks and libraries across the city, and tripled the miles of roads repaired annually to meet a goal of fixing 1,000 miles of streets over five years. He has prioritized new funding and programs to reduce homelessness, making housing more affordable, growing San Diego’s innovative and binational economy, and creating good-paying jobs for San Diegans.
Prior to his election to the City Council, Faulconer worked in public affairs for more than a decade and was vice president of a leading firm where he managed complex projects within strict budgetary guidelines. Faulconer graduated in 1990 from San Diego State University. He and his wife, Katherine, a small business owner, live in Point Loma with their children, Jack and Lauren.
At the June 2 event, Mayor Faulconer will speak about City of San Diego’s future and present a Resolution of Appreciation to the Club on its Century of Service to the community.
