October Updates
October kicked off a brand-new Kiwanis year, and we’re energized for what’s ahead! Founded in 1920, our club continues to build leaders, empower youth, and invest in our community — with our Foundation now exceeding $6 million and awarding approximately $300,000 annually in scholarships and grants.
If you haven’t yet renewed your membership (or are ready to join!), now’s the perfect time at KiwanisSD.org.
This month, we celebrated youth leadership in action — recognizing Academy of Our Lady of Peace Key Club advisor Harrison Trubitt with a Distinguished Service Award and honoring Lily Nock for her outstanding service as Division Lt. Governor.
Our October luncheon at the Westgate Hotel featured Coach Brian Dutcher of SDSU and the induction of 13 new members — a fitting start to a year focused on service and community connection.
We closed out the month with two meaningful service projects supporting Rady Children’s Hospital. At Miracle Miles of Quarters, our Key Club and Builders Club members created incredible quarter-made artwork to raise funds for children’s care — while Kiwanis San Diego members served ice cream and cheered them on. We also had the privilege of serving dinner at the Ronald McDonald House, providing comfort and nourishment to families staying nearby while their children receive critical medical care.
Here’s to a strong start and an inspiring year ahead of leadership, service, and fellowship!
