Just in Time for Foster Youth

Just in Time for Foster Youth invites you to join us for our My First Home Group Shopping Day, from 8:30 AM-2 PM. Together, we will make a lasting impact on 6 transition-age foster youth, as they make their first apartment into their first home. You will have the opportunity not just to support as a volunteer, also creating a community to celebrate a milestone in their life. We are giving them a sense of choice while selecting their items and ownership of items they are bringing back home.

Just in Time’s founding service, My First Home, offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to fit your level of skill and comfortability. Volunteers work in teams to support youth at the JIT Distribution Center as they “shop”, pack moving trucks and transport items. If interested, please complete this form, and we do just ask that you attend a short MFH Volunteer Orientation.

Volunteer Roles & spots available per shopping day:

Shoppers: Walk alongside participants, providing one-on-one support, while they select items on their wish list and ensure all items are marked for “movers.” The shopper will also take notes to document items selected by participant for administrative record keeping. (6 spots)

Drivers: Drivers help transport items using their own pick-up truck, van, SUV or larger vehicle (8-10 spots)

Movers: Once items are selected by participant, movers take the items from the shelves and distribution center floor to a designated area outside. Movers help load furniture/household items into moving vehicles, transport items to the youth’s home, and help them unload and assemble furniture – depending on the desires of the youth. (12-18 spots)

This is a Kiwanis Club of San Diego MEMBER-ONLY exclusive event.
Attendance is limited to current members and their personally invited guests registered by a member.

Join fellow Kiwanis Club of San Diego members for a special behind-the-scenes tour of the San Diego Symphony’s Jacobs Music Center. This exclusive experience offers a rare look inside one of San Diego’s premier cultural institutions.

The guided tour will last approximately 90 minutes. Tours are best suited for groups of 20 or fewer; if registration exceeds 20 attendees, participants will be divided into multiple tour groups as needed.

Following the tour, members and guests are invited to an optional no-host lunch at Swami's Café Downtown where all attendees will receive 10% off!

Advance RSVP is required to secure your spot and to help determine the number of tours needed.
